Casstevens NORTH WILKESBORO - Mr. Ernest Lee Casstevens, 81, of Shannon View Street passed away peacefully Saturday, December 16, 2023. He was born December 9, 1942 in Surry County to the late Ed and Alice Ashburn Casstevens. Mr. Casstevens attended Way of Life Church in Hamptonville and started working in furniture at the age of 16 and continued until his retirement from American Drew Furniture Company at the age of 62. He loved working with wood and furniture through most of his life. However, nothing compared to the love he had for his family, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, friends, and his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Mr. Casstevens came from a large loving family, and that love was always shown to others he met. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his sisters, Mary Walker, Bertha Barber, and a brother and sister-in-law, Clayton and Margaret Casstevens. Surviving are his beloved wife of 42 years, Kathy Love Casstevens; his children, Lainie Casstevens, Dwayne (Gracie) Casstevens, Wiley (Crystal) Casstevens, Joseph (Angel) Casstevens, Daniel (Ladonna) Casstevens, John (Jenny) Casstevens, Melissa C. (Kevin) Loggins; 16 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Mae Dixon, Audrey Mayes; 5 brothers, Aubrey Casstevens, Ed Casstevens, Ralph Casstevens, Gene Casstevens, Dwight Casstevens; several nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and his special canine friend, Sammy. The family will receive friends from 12:00-2:00 PM Tuesday at Calvary Full Gospel Church in Elkin. His funeral service will follow the visitation at 2 PM Tuesday in Calvary Full Gospel Church by Rev. Tim Pardue. Pallbearers for the service will be Daniel Casstevens, John Casstevens, Dwayne Casstevens, Joey Wagoner, Andrew Casstevens, Dylan Casstevens, and Brantley Casstevens. Interment will follow in Beulahland Church Cemetery in Jonesville. Ernest’s message and prayer is that everyone know he loves them, and that they accept Jesus as their Savior.
