Boonville – Eva Mae Brown Whitaker, 90, went to be with her Lord and Savior on February 1, 2026. She was born June 24, 1935 in Yadkin County to the late John “Frank” Brown and Treva Vestal Brown. Eva was a member at Center Global Methodist Church, where she had been a Sunday school teacher and had served on several different committees. She graduated from East Bend High School and retired from Hoots Hospital after 25 years of service. Eva was a Nurse’s Aide at the hospital where she always enjoyed helping and caring for others. She loved spending time with family, but her pride and joy were her grandchildren and great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Miles “Ray” Whitaker; sister, Sue Pettit; brothers, Bernard Brown, Paul Brown. She is survived by her sons, Michael (Joyce) Whitaker, Barry (Angie) Whitaker; grandchildren, Jeremy (Jill) Whitaker, Erin (Donnie Ray) Willard, Karie (Josh) Matthews, Emily (Lucas) Payne; great grandchildren, Jayce Whitaker, Julie Whitaker, Jaelyn Whitaker, Brooklynn Matthews; step great grandchildren, McKinley Willard, Paisley Willard; sisters-in-law, Odessa Brown, Patty Harrison; her lifelong special friend, Barbara Gentry; and several nieces and nephews and other family members. Her funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, February 7, 2026 at Center Global Methodist Church by the Rev. Andy Lambert and the Rev. Justin Douglas. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00 to 2:00 PM on Saturday at the church.
