Mr. Franklin Pierce Haire, 97, of Yadkinville, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, May 5, 2026. Born on April 18, 1929, in Yadkin County, he was the son of the late Francis Marion and Winnie Groce Haire.
Pierce was a proud veteran of the United States Army who faithfully served his country during the Korean War. Following his service, he returned home to the community he loved, where he became widely known for his dedication to tobacco and grain farming. He found great joy in working the land and spent much of his life outdoors, embracing the simple blessings of country living.
Pierce had a deep appreciation for life and the stories it held. He loved to travel and treasured sharing stories of his experiences, family history, and memories from years gone by. He enjoyed watching basketball, cheering on the Atlanta Braves, and in his later years, found happiness on the dance floor. One of his proudest memories was taking his three granddaughters on a tour of Europe, creating memories they would cherish forever.
Above all else, Pierce was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. His family meant everything to him, and he treasured every opportunity to spend time with them. His steady love, wisdom, and charasmatic spirit will be remembered by all who knew him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Betty Moxley Haire; two grandsons, Nicholas Peirce Loflin and Johnathon Gregory Loflin; his sister, Florence Withrow; his brother, Risden Odell Haire; and four double first cousins whom he loved as dearly as siblings, Phillip, Ruth, Bud, and Virginia.
Those left to cherish his memory include his devoted daughters, Sandra (Danny) Oliver and Quita Loflin (Kevin) Long; granddaughters, Amanda (Dusty) Robinson, Julia (Allen) Harrington, and Kenzie (Patrick) Livingston; five great-grandchildren; and his longtime companion, Evon Holder.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 PM Saturday at Mitchells Chapel Church. A funeral service honoring Pierce’s life will follow at 2:00 PM in the church with Rev. Joey Moore officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mitchells Chapel Church.
