Gary Dwayne Childress

Childress Jonesville - Mr. Gary Dwayne Childress, 50, of Swan Creek road passed away peacefully Wednesday, July 26, 2023 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born April 1, 1973 in Yadkin County to Rommie “Dink” Childress and Barbara Combs Childress. Mr. Childress attended Swan Creek Baptist Church earlier in his life. He loved working outside especially either doing yardwork, or in his flower and vegetable gardens. Mr. Childress was preceded in death by his father, the late Rommie “Dink” Childress; by his wife, Montine Driver Childress; a nephew, Chad Cook Swaim; and his grandparents, Don and Della Combs. Surviving are his beloved mother, Barbara Childress Cottrell, of the home; his step-daughter, Megan Driver; his step-grandchildren, Kyler, Caden, Colby Driver; his sister, Renee Johnson, Jonesville; his brother, Gerry Childress and wife, Kayla of Jonesville; nieces and nephews, Ryan and Dylan Childress, Olivia Childress, Morgan Johnson, Kolby and Kyle Easterling; great-nephew, James Childress; great-niece, Lily Johnson; aunt and uncle, Renita and Richie Swaim; and several other family members and close friends. The family will receive friends from 1-2 PM Sunday at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Jonesville. His funeral service will follow the visitation at 2 PM Sunday in the Gentry Family Chapel by Rev. Scott Bishop. Burial will follow in Sunrise Cemetery in Jonesville. Gentry Family Funeral Service of Jonesville is serving the Childress Family.
