Gladys Elizabeth Roberts Carter

Gladys Elizabeth Roberts Carter, 97, our loving mama and grandma, passed away Friday, March 8, 2024. She was born December 10, 1926 in Wilkes County to the late James Russell Roberts and Hallie Mae Yarboro Roberts.  Mrs. Carter was a member of Island Ford Baptist Church. She worked at Yadkin Nursing Center as the activity director and retired from there after many years of service.  She enjoyed spending time with her family, working in her flowers, and dipping that sweet peach snuff. She also made the BEST homemade biscuits around!  She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, Thad Carter; two sisters, Katherine Macemore and Betty Jean Evans; a brother, Bud Roberts and a half-brother, Bobby Brooks; a son-in-law, Wade Chappell and a great-grandson, Noah Lee Carter.  Surviving are her children, Jimmy (Glenda) Carter, Kenneth (Jenny) Carter, and Norma Jean Chappell; grandchildren, Bettina (Dwayne) Miller, Darrell (Isobel) Carter, Kendra (Britt) Hennings, Andrea (Shane) Stewart, and Skeet (Leigh Ann) Lawrence; ten great-grandchildren, three step-great grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren, and one step-great-great grandchild; three half-sisters, Linda Ray Spicer, Jackie (Ralph) Hobson, Sue (Larry) Andrews and a half-brother, Sammy (Betty) Brooks.   The family will receive friends from 12:00-2:00pm, Friday, March 15, 2024 at Gentry Family Funeral Service, in Yadkinville.  Her funeral will be conducted at 2:00pm in the Gentry Family Chapel by Reverend Randy Johnson and Pastor Mitchell See. Her burial will follow at the Boonville cemetery.  Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville is serving the Carter family.  The family would like to extend their gratitude to Yadkin Nursing Center for their love and care given to Gladys.
