Gladys Vanhoy Henderson

Winston Salem Ms. Gladys Mae Vanhoy Henderson, 88, passed away Sunday, May 7, 2023, at her home. Gladys was born December 13, 1934, in Yadkin County to John Roosevelt and Gertha Nichols Vanhoy. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, watching gameshows and soap operas, and going to eat breakfast. She always had the sweetest smile and loved her Dental Sweet snuff. In addition to her parents, Gladys was preceded in death by a son, Danny Henderson; brothers, Howard Vanhoy and Glenn Vanhoy; and sisters, Lorene Simmons, Judy Ann Vanhoy, and Linda Poplin. She is survived by her children, Debra Gardner, Daril (Rachelle) Henderson, and Tammy (Randy) Klass; grandchildren, Tonya (Jody) Jones, David Henderson, Nikki Handy, Brian (Marian) Wright, Christopher Gardner, Chelsea Gardner, Daniel (Ashlyn) Henderson, and Doniella Medlin; great-grandchildren; Brittany, Brayla, Zachary, Hunter, Michaela, Morgan, Meredith, Micole, Miranda, Courtney, Alyssa, McKenzie, CJ, and Calum; great-great-grandchildren, Ryleigh, Levi, Hadleigh, and Monroe; sisters, Dorothy Buelin, Kay Vanhoy, and Liz (Leonard) Reynolds; brothers, Ray (Becky) Vanhoy and Charlie Vanhoy; sister-in-law, Annie Lee Vanhoy; numerous nieces and nephews; and her K-9 companion, Daisy Mae. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, May 10, 2023, at Gentry Family Chapel in Jonesville. Burial will follow at Sunrise Cemetery in Jonesville. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of Medi Hospice, especially Tiffany, Laura, and Ms. Margaret for the loving care given to Gladys. Gentry Family Funeral Service in Jonesville is serving the Vanhoy/Henderson family.
