Glenda Jordan York

Glenda Jordan York, 81, of Yadkinville spread her wings to heaven with her family by her side on October 28, 2022. Glenda was born on October 21, 1941 in Forsyth County to WD and Martha Flynn Jordan. Glenda was preceded in death by her parents, WD and Martha Flynn Jordan; brothers, Kenneth, Arlis, and Jerry Jordan; nephews, Craig and Terry Jordan, and Derrick Hutchins. She will be lovingly remembered and missed by her husband, Jimmy, of 60 years; daughter, Angie (Dale) Holcomb, and son, Greg, all of Yadkinville. The loves of her life were her grandchildren, Jordan (Hannah) Holcomb and Garrett Holcomb of Yadkinville, Hunter and Tanner York also of Yadkinville. Her sisters who she loved dearly, Carolyn (Roy) Stewart of Winston-Salem and Lois Wyatt of Lexington. She will also be missed by brother and sister-in-law, Tommy and Elaine York, sisters-in-law Nancy and Beverly York, and a very special and treasured sister-in-law, Jane Pinnix. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews along with her special and beloved dog, Noah. Glenda graduated from Mineral Springs High School and worked at Hanes Hosiery before attending Forsyth Technical College where she earned her nursing degree. Glenda spent the majority of her career as an OBGYN Nurse at Winston-Salem Health Care, retiring in 1999. Our entire family would like to thank the nurses and doctors of the Palliative Care Unit at Novant Medical Center as well as the entire staff at Mountain Valley Hospice for the loving care they all provided to her. A memorial service will be held at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville on Friday, November 4, 2022 at 2:00pm and family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00 pm to  2:00 pm. Burial will follow at Huntsville Baptist Church. Both flowers and/or memorial contributions for Mountain Valley Hospice (243 N Lee Avenue, Yadkinville, NC 27055) are equally appreciated and will be treasured. “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” 2 Timothy 4:7.
