Grady Lee Somers

Mr. Grady Lee Somers, 92, passed away Friday, March 3, 2023. He was born November 21, 1930 in Wilkes County to the late William Theodore “Bill” Somers and Ada Mitchell Somers. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Kathleen Shore Somers; a son, Mike Somers; his step-mother, Grace Souther Somers, and his sister and brothers, Velma Coleman, Ted Somers, and Gerald Somers. He is survived by his children, Kent (Hazel) Somers, Lynn (Cynthia) Somers, Jan Somers; grandchildren, Todd Somers, Chris (Jennifer) Somers, Adam (Tresa) Somers, Heather (Michael) Tilley, Amber (Jason) Brown, Amy (Donald) Blizard, Austin (Kaitlyn) Somers, Tanner Somers; 13 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; sister Evalene (Gene) Henderson. Mr. Somers was a member of Union Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing and he loved reading his Bible every day. The family will receive friends at Union Baptist Church, Sunday, March 5, 2023 from 1:00 PM till 2:30 PM. His funeral service will follow the visitation at 3:00 PM with Rev. Kenny Pardue & Rev. Russ Nixon officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family would like to thank the staff of Wake Forest Baptist Davie Medical Center for the excellent care given to Grady. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Union Baptist Church, Building Fund, 760 Union Bapt. Ch. Rd., Hamptonville, NC 27020.
