YADKINVILLE – Mr. Harrell Gray Todd, 82, of Shacktown Road, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 17, 2026, at Yadkin Nursing Center, leaving behind a lifetime marked by service, faith, hard work, and devotion to family and community.
Harrell was born November 7, 1943, in Forsyth County to the late Cyrus Cornelius Todd and Alice Steelman Todd. Throughout his life, he carried with him a strong sense of duty and a generous spirit, always willing to lend a helping hand to those around him.
A proud veteran of the United States Army, Harrell served his country with honor and was honorably discharged at the rank of First Sergeant. His dedication to service remained an important part of the man he was throughout his life.
Harrell earned his bachelor’s degree from North Carolina State University and remained a devoted Wolfpack fan for many years. He later built a long and respected career with his brother as the co-owner of Todd Brothers Plumbing in Yadkinville, before retiring as owner. Through his work, he served countless families throughout Yadkin County and the surrounding communities, earning the trust and friendship of many along the way.
His commitment to his community extended far beyond his profession. Harrell was an active member of the Wilkes/Yadkin Builders Association, where he was honored as Associate of the Year. He also generously volunteered his time with the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts of America, including his work with Adult Leadership Training for the Wood Badge program. Through his involvement with Scouting, he helped encourage and guide both young people and fellow adult leaders.
Harrell was a member of Yadkin Masonic Lodge #162 A.F. & A.M. and a faithful member of Deep Creek Baptist Church. His faith, service to others, and willingness to give of his time were enduring reflections of the life he lived.
Above all, Harrell treasured his family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Dr. Barbara Ann Reynolds Todd; his two sons, Nathaniel G. Todd and Darren T. Todd, and wife, Stephanie; his grandchildren, Easton Todd and Stetson Todd; his sister, Georgia Jackson; and his brother, Lowell Todd, and wife, Lois. His family, along with the many friends, neighbors, colleagues, and community members whose lives he touched, will remember his generous heart, steadfast character, and lifelong commitment to helping others.
In addition to his parents, Harrell was preceded in death by his brother, Earl Todd, and his brother-in-law, Terry Jackson.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at Deep Creek Baptist Church. The funeral service will follow at 3:00 p.m., with the Rev. David Kiser, Dr. Rick Paige, and Dr. Ron Davis, officiating, with Masonic Rites given in the church by Yadkin Masonic Lodge #162 A.F.&A.M.
