Hazel Clement Pendry

Hazel A. Clement Pendry, 88, of Boonville, passed away on Saturday, January 3, 2026, at her home. Hazel was born on July 7, 1937, to the late Avery Clement, Jr and Virginia Angel Clement. She was a longtime member of Richmond Hill Baptist Church where she faithfully attended. Hazel was known for her beautiful yard that portrayed her love for roses and a variety of flowers and her lovely fish pond.

In addition to her parents, Hazel was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, James “Carroll” Pendry, brothers, “Butch” Avery Clement, Johnny Clement and sister, Martha Clement.

Those left to cherish Hazel’s memory include her daughters, Stephanie (Barry) Byrd, Jennifer (Darrell) Hobson, grandchildren, Ashley (Ethan) Doby, Avery Hobson (Salem Finney), Brandon (Caroline) Byrd, Nichole Byrd and great granddaughter, Ellie Byrd. Also surviving are her sisters, Christine Rivers, Jenny Aguallo, numerous nieces and nephews, best friend, Barbara Hayes and caregiver, who became family, Annette Brooks.

The family will visit with friends on Tuesday, January 6, at Richmond Hill Baptist Church from 1:00 to 2:00 PM. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 PM with burial to follow in the church cemetery, Pastor Luke Money will be officiating. Mrs. Pendry will lie in state one hour prior to the visitation, 12:00 to 1:00 PM.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Hazel’s dedicated caregivers for their love and support during this time and for always being available to help in any way; Annette Brooks, Diedra Redmond, Lois Cornelius and Cathy Sparks.

Even though Mrs. Pendry loved her flowers, she would rather you purchased flowers for yourself to enjoy or donate to Mountain Valley Hospice at PO Box 325, Dobson, NC 27017 or to Richmond Hill Baptist Church Cemetery Fund 2205 Richmond Hill Church Road Boonville, NC 27011.
