Homer Nelson Brooks, 93, of Hamptonville, passed away on Monday, March 16, 2026, at his home. Homer was born on November 14, 1932, in Yadkin County to the late Henry Brooks and Bertha Dinkins Brooks.
A devoted member of Mountain View Baptist Church, Homer lived his faith daily through quiet acts of service and a genuine love for others. He was known as a friend to everyone he met, always ready with a warm smile, a listening ear, or a helping hand. Whether supporting his church, donating to charitable causes, or simply helping a neighbor in need, he gave freely and without hesitation. It was often said that he would give the shirt off his back to anyone who needed it and he truly meant it. He proudly served his country in the Army for four years. Homer found great joy in the craft of blacksmithing and selling tools. His work was not only a trade but a reflection of his patience, craftsmanship, and pride in honest labor. In his leisure time, he was an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed watching westerns. He was also known to many as the “Candy Man”.
In addition to his parents, Homer was preceded in death by his son, Barry Brooks, granddaughter, Jennifer Brooks, brothers, Creeb, Suds, Sam and Chief Brooks and sister, Beulah Brooks. Those left to cherish Homer’s memory include his daughters, Cathy Ann (Gary) Wade, Linda (Ron) Howard, grandchildren, Heather Brooks (Mark) Frank, Barry Nelson Brooks, Jr, Elizabeth Brooks (Morgan) Howard, Amy (Michael) Flaker, Chris (Hillary) Wade, Dan Wade, Holly (Gene) Lewis, Lindsay Howard (Steve) Martin, great grandchildren, Clara Cantrell, McKenna Williams, Avery (Carine) Knisley, Hannah Knisley, Brianna Howard, Chase Wills, Grace Terry, Waylon Terry, Carlin Flaker, Cole Flaker, Darren Wade and Aurora Wade, great-great grandson, Timothy Trausch and sister, Rosaline Brooks Smith.
