Howard Eugene "Gene" Whitaker

Howard Eugene Whitaker, born on May 2, 1965, to Margaret Whitaker and Nathan Eugene Whitaker, passed away on February 28, 2025. He grew up in Yadkin County, graduated from Forbush High School, and attended Wilkes Community College, where he earned a degree in Electrical Engineering.

Howard was a dedicated and hard-working man. He worked at HIBCO Plastics until 1992, then transitioned to a career at Yadkin County EMS, where he served from 1992 until his retirement in 2011. He was also a volunteer at Fire Station 12 and the Yadkin County Rescue Squad, making a significant impact on his community.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Margaret and Nathan Whitaker. Howard is survived by his sons, Anthony Harrison Whitaker and Austin Ray Whitaker, as well as his three beloved grandchildren, Zander Whitaker, Mazikeen Whitaker, and Raiden Whitaker. He is also survived by extended family members, including Donna Ingram (Todd), along with many friends who will cherish his memory.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Yadkin County EMS or the Yadkin County Rescue Squad, organizations that Howard was deeply passionate about.
