Icie Marie Whitaker Dinkins

Mrs. Icie Marie Whitaker Dinkins, 94, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, December 24, 2023. She was born on January 3, 1929 in Yadkin County to Charlie Frank Whitaker and Zetta Mae White Whitaker. Icie was a great cook and was especially known for her world-famous strawberry pound cake, chocolate pie, peach delight, and her Christmas fruit bowl. She also loved gardening and canning and was a wonderful housekeeper. Icie retired from R.J. Reynolds as an inspector. She was a member of Huntsville Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and sang in the choir. 

In addition to her parents, Icie is preceded in death by her husband, Willie Thomas Dinkins; two brothers, Harold and Omer Whitaker; and four sisters, Lorene Whitaker, Eva Maines, Doris Hoots and Gail Edwards. She is survived by her sister, Charlotte Sizemore; and many nieces and nephews. 

A graveside service will be held on Friday, December 29, 2023 at 2:00PM at Huntsville Baptist Church in Yadkinville. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Huntsville Baptist Church at 4901 Courtney-Huntsville Church Rd, Yadkinville NC, 27055 or to Mountain Valley Hospice at 243 N Lee Ave, Yadkinville NC, 27055. 

The family would like to give a special thank you to all of Icie’s loving caregivers and to the staff of Mountain Valley Hospice for their love and care over Icie.
