RONDA – Mr. Jackie Thomas “Tommy” Holleman, Sr., 80, of Captain Day Road passed away peacefully Wednesday, May 1, 2024 at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem.  Mr. Holleman was born October 10, 1943 in Wilkes County to the late Clyde and Nola Eva Welborn Holleman.  He was a proud veteran of the Vietnam War serving with the US Army in Germany.  He then became a life member of Yadkin VFW Post 10346 where he served with their Memorial Honor Guard, and volunteered at the V.A. Hospital in Salisbury.  Mr. Holleman was a graduate of Wilkes Community College and retired as District Circulation Supervisor with the Winston-Salem Journal.  Mr. Holleman was a faithful member of Temple Hill Methodist Church where he served the church as a Sunday School Teacher and Choir Member.  He loved golf, traveling, was an avid reader, was a volunteer for the Elkin Public Library, Wilkes Senior Center, and for the Local Senior Games.  He was known for his skill in pitching horseshoes and finished 6th in the World Horseshoe Competition.  In his later years, he played in the Senior Games where he was Defending Champion for his age group in the Horseshoe Throwing Category.   Mr. Holleman loved his family, enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, and was a loving devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather to all of them.  He loved life, was always full of laughter, and was known for saying “Always late but worth the wait!!”  In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his sister, Linda Wilcox.  Surviving are his beloved wife of 62 years, Lena Rogers Holleman; his children, Jackie T. (Angela) Holleman, Jr., Judith T. Ramsey (John Anderson), Jon Paul (Scarlet) Holleman; grandchildren, Jackie Thomas (Betsy) Holleman, III, Selena B. Holleman Delgado (Rafaela Delgado), Alexandria Anderson, Emma Anderson, Isabella Anderson, Jon Patrick (Mollie) Holleman, Madelyn Holleman; step-grandchildren, Regan (Alec) Faircloth, Bailey Gentry; great-grandchildren, Jack Holleman, Cale Holleman, Sunny Holleman; step-great-grandchildren, Graham Faircloth, Colson Jack Wood; his sister, Sue Renegar; and his brother, Clyde P. Holleman, Jr.  The family will receive friends from 3-5 PM Sunday, May 5, 2024 at Temple Hill  Methodist Church, 1191 Somers Road, Ronda.  His Celebration of Life Service will follow the visitation at 5 PM in the church by Rev. Justin Welch and Rev. Greg Freeman.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery with Full Military Honors by Yadkin VFW Post 10346.  Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to either Temple Hill Methodist Church, 1191 Somers Road, Ronda, NC 28670 or to a charity of the donors choice.  Gentry Family Funeral Service of Yadkinville is serving the Holleman Family.
