Jackie "Jack" Cooper Crissman

October 23, 1937 — June 26, 2022

Boonville – Jackie “Jack” Cooper Crissman, 84, passed away Sunday, June 26, 2022. He was born October 23, 1937 in Yadkin County to the late Floyd Elmer Crissman and Goldie Miller Crissman Hobson. Jack was a friend to many and lovingly referred to as “Papa” or “Pop” by those in his family. Papa found much joy spending his retirement days playing thousands of rounds of golf with his buddies, hundreds of puzzles and western novels, road tripping with his bride all over the country, and raising an even bigger garden every year only to give most all of it away; lots of camping, whistling, spending quality time with his family, and in all of it, finding ways to serve Jesus. He faithfully served his community in many capacities including the Boonville Town Council, Fire Department, Lion’s club, Jaycee’s, Salvation Army, Gideon's, Meals on Wheels and many mission trips with Boonville Baptist Church where he was a deacon and Sunday school teacher over 50 years. He had a successful career with CMS Insurance & Financial where he made many lifelong friendships. Jack loved the Lord and his family more than anything and had an open-door policy for his home and an open-arms policy for hugs. He never met a stranger and could figure out how he was kin to you if you could listen long enough, and ended every conversation with “come and see me and bring something to eat!" In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a step-father, Claude Hobson; a sister, Janice Moxley; brother, Ross Crissman; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Junior Hutchens, Mitchell Casstevens, Tommy and Nell Norman, and Benny and Colene Steelman. . Surviving is his wife, Linda Lou Steelman Crissman; children, Kenneth “Kenny” Crissman, Andrew “Andy” (April) Crissman, Russell “Rusty” (Donna) Crissman; grandchildren, Justin Crissman, Victoria Crissman, Erin (Beau) Simmons, Olivia Crissman; great grandchildren, Bella, Norah, Betts; sisters, Frankie Hutchens, Cora Lee Casstevens, Kay (Wayne) Hayes; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Bobby Moxley, Eloise Crissman, Kenneth and Jenny Carter; and many loving nieces and nephews. His memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM Tuesday, June 28, 2022 at Boonville Baptist Church by Robin Vann and the Rev. John Brown. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00 to 3:00 PM Tuesday at Boonville Baptist Church Family Life Center.
