James "Ed" Edward Jones, Jr.

James Edward “Ed” Jones, Jr., 83, passed away Thursday August 29, 2024. He was born March 28, 1941 in Surry County to the late James Edward Jones, Sr. and Flora Hicks Jones. Mr. jones attended Gospel Chapel Church for several years. He enjoyed building stuff, driving his truck, and fishing. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter Tammie Jones; brothers Donald Jones, Bobby Jones. Surviving are his wife Gloria Hill Jones; daughter Debbie Wood; step daughter Sonia (Dawayne) Bonds; Stepsons Skip Evans (Lisa Hawks), Charlie Evans; grandchildren Tiffany Davis, Destiny Jones, Austin Wood, Jamie Wood; grandchildren of the home Jade Evans, Katelyn Evans, Landon Evans; other grandchildren Miley “MoMo” Evans, Holly Zipter, Megan Buck, Heather Quinn, Cassidy Haynes, Clayton Bonds; several other grandchildren and greatgrandchildren; sister Judy Jones; brothers Clinton (Kay) Jones, Calvin Jones, John (Sharon) Jones; special nephew Scott Hill; several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 2-3 PM Tuesday September 3, 2024 at Gospel Chapel Church, His funeral will follow the visitation at 3:00 PM at the church by Rev Mike Welch and Rev. Bill Bates. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family would like to say a very special thanks to the staff of Hugh Chatham Home Health, Hospice, and Forsyth Medical Center for the loving care given to Mr. Jones.
