James "Jimmy" Sanford Brown

Mr. James “Jimmy” Sanford Brown, age 87, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, November 16, 2025. He was born in Yadkin County to the late Bart and Ila Brown. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Patricia Oliver, and his only child, Bart Brown. Surviving are his devoted wife of 58 years, Brenda; his brother, Steve (Gayle) Brown; nephew, Bradley (Angie) Oliver and their children, Hannah and Brayden; niece, Stephanie (Marcas) Wilson and their daughter, Peyton; niece, Megan (Seth) Laskarzewski and their children, Zach and Autumn; brother-in-law, Gary (Joel) Long; and a special friend, Darren Mabe. Jimmy retired from RJR after 30 years. He was an avid rabbit hunter and enjoyed turkey shoots. He was a lifelong member of Flat Rock Baptist Church but had attended Calvary for the past 50 years. A graveside service will be held at Flat Rock Baptist Church on Thursday, November 20, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. Mr. Brown will lie-in-state from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 19, 2025 and from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 20, 2025 at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville. A very heartfelt thank you to Voncil Thomas, a dedicated caregiver for the past three years. Gentry Family Funeral Service of Yadkinville is serving the Brown family.
