HAMPTONVILLE – “To God be the Glory, Great Things He has Done” On Tuesday January 13, 2026, Rev. James Edward “Jimmy” Mahan, 81, of Brown Road passed away peacefully at the SECU Hospice Care Center of Yadkin. He was born January 9, 1945 in Raleigh, West Virginia to the late Homer Lee and Zala Atkins Mahan. Rev. Mahan worked as a truck driver for many years. His heart was to serve others and to glorify the name of Jesus Christ to anyone he met. He served as the pastor at Way of Life Full Gospel Tabernacle for several years. He was always a loving, devoted Pastor to many and a great man that never became upset, always looked for the peace of Christ, and always showed and shared the peace of Christ to others. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his former wives, Shirley Stanley Mahan and Nelda Greene Mahan; his step-daughter, Tammy Helton; brothers, Curtis J. Mahan, Bobby Mahan, Homer Mahan, Franklin Mahan, Larry Mahan, Troy Douglas Mahan; and sisters, Linda M. Oxendine and Shelby Jean M. Vandall. Surviving are his beloved wife, Kathy Casstevens; his step-children, Debbie Wheeler, Mandy (Larry) Longworth, Rickey (Cindy) Greene, Debbie (Richard) Dishman, Daniel (Ladona) Casstevens, John (Jenny) Casstevens, Melissa (Kevin) Loggins; 15 step-grandchildren; 1 step-great-grandchild; 4 brothers, Gary (Patricia) Mahan, Norman (JoAnn) Mahan, Michael Mahan, Roger Mahan; and a sister, Deborah Lynn Mahan (Steve) Freeman; and a host of friends. The family will receive friends from 1-2 PM Saturday at Way of Life Full Gospel Tabernacle on Brown Road in Hamptonville. His funeral service will follow the visitation at 2 PM Saturday at Way of Life Full Gospel Tabernacle by Rev. Kelly Haynes and Rev. Tim Pardue. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family would like to express their gratitude to the nurses and staff of Mountain Valley Hospice for all their loving care and support provided to them.
