James Lewis Weatherman

Jonesville

On June 21, 2022, James Lewis Weatherman, lovingly called Jake, J.L. and Hogjaw, age 88 years, 11 months and 2 weeks of Jonesville, NC passed away peacefully at home after a period of declining health.   

James was born on July 7, 1933 to Sherman and Mallie Vestal Weatherman.  In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his brother Charles Landon Weatherman, his sister Betty Carter, and two infant sisters. 

James proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1952 to 1954. James faithfully attended Bible Baptist Church until his health prevented it. 

In 1960, James married the love of his life, Hilda Pearson Weatherman, who survives.  James is also survived by his son, Eddie James Weatherman and wife Kathy of Union Grove; two granddaughters, Kristen Stroud and husband Jacob of Harmony and Lori Booe of Hamptonville; three great-grandchildren, Tyler, Sophie, and Emmy Stroud; and his sister Flora Jean Barker of Jonesville.

James will be available for viewing on Friday, June 24, 2022 at Gentry Family Funeral Service of Jonesville from 8:30 – 5 PM.  A Celebration of Life will be held at the graveside at Crestwood Memorial Gardens in State Road on June 25, 2022 at 10 :00 AM with Brother Daniel Settle officiating. 

An informal visitation will be held at the home from 2 to 4 PM after the funeral.
