Jean Bianco Stammetti

August 19, 1932 — May 26, 2025

Boonville

Jean Bianco Stammetti departed this world peacefully on May 26, 2025, having lived and loved for over 92 years. Jean was born on August 19, 1932 in Brooklyn, New York to William Bianco and Anna Sciallo Bianco. In 1955, she married the love of her life, Salvatore “Sal” William Stammetti and they moved to Boonville, North Carolina, where they created a life surrounded by family and friends. Jean is survived by her son, Bill (Eileen) of Holden Beach, NC, daughter Ginny (Mark) of Boonville; sister Annette Coleman (Richard) of Fredericksburg, VA; grandchildren Victoria (Lindsey) of Boonville, Sal (Kaitlin) of Cary, and Jean Marie (Reed) of Raleigh; great grandchildren Briggs and Harrison Stammetti, nieces Suzy and Dorsey Stammetti, Campion and Anna Coleman. In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by her husband Sal and nephew Bill. To say that “family” was everything to Jean is an understatement. Holidays and celebrations were a regular occurrence at “Nana Jean’s” house. As the consummate hostess, she always made sure that anyone who passed through her doors knew that they were welcome and loved. She truly loved and was loved by all. The family would like to thank her medical team who took such good care of Jean throughout her life, especially Dr. Alex Waite, Tabitha Cousart-Hutchens, and Dr. Franklin Watkins; her caregivers, who provided loving care to Jean, especially Mahalia, Vicki, Sharon, Debbie and Nina; and Mountain Valley Hospice in Dobson for their compassionate care for Jean and the family in her final days. Thank you all. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM Wednesday, June 4, 2025 at Gentry Family Funeral Service, 5108 US 601 Highway, Yadkinville, NC. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, June 5, 2025 at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church, 101 Hawthorne Rd., Elkin, NC. Interment will follow at Boonville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you consider a donation to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, PO Box 325, Dobson, NC 27017. (online at https://www.mtnvalleyhospice.org/ways-to-give/donate/) or St. Stephen’s Catholic Church, 101 Hawthorne Rd., Elkin, NC 28621 (https://www.ststephennc.org/).
