Jerry Thomas Matthews

Mr. Jerry Thomas Matthews, 70, passed away Sunday, February 15, 2026 at Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. He was born January 11, 1956 in Forsyth County to the late Thomas David Matthews and Mildred Louise Long Matthews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two infant brothers Michael Matthews and Gary Matthews. Jerry was a lifelong farmer. He loved being outside hunting, fishing, and going to tractor pulls. He is survived by his sister, Brenda (Raymond) Harris; nieces, Sylvia (Ted) Akers, April (Bryan) Martin; nephews, David (Lauren) Harris, Richard Harris; great nephews and great niece, Travis (Ivana) Akers, Zachary Akers, Addi Gorman; great-great niece, Eleanor Akers. Mr. Matthews will be available for public viewing Thursday, February 19, 2026 at the funeral home from 8:00 AM until 4:30 PM and Friday, February 20, 2026 from 8:00 AM until 12:00 PM. The family will receive friends, Friday, February 20, 2026 from 12:00 PM until 1:00 PM at Gentry Family Funeral Service in East Bend. His graveside service will follow the visitation at 1:30 PM at Forbush Friends Cemetery. The family would like to thank the staff of Mtn. Valley Hospice and the staff of Woltz Hospice home for the loving care given to Jerry and his family. Memorials may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice of Yadkin County, 243 N.
