Jerry Roger Sanders October 18, 1939 – October 23, 2026

Jerry Roger Sanders passed away peacefully at home on Friday, October 23, 2026, surrounded by loving family.

 A devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend, Jerry treasured the time he shared with those who meant the most to him. His love for family and friends was at the center of his life and he leaves behind a legacy of cherished memories that will remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. 

Jerry was an Army veteran. He retired as Postmaster of Jonesville, NC, a position he held with honor. He enjoyed playing fast-pitch softball, spending time on the golf course, playing games and carpentry. He also loved his precious church family at Jonesville First Baptist, where he attended and served for 40+ years. Whether enjoying his favorite pastimes or gathering with family and friends, Jerry valued the laughter, companionship and meaningful moments they shared. 

He is survived by his loving wife, Sharon Shauger Sanders, his daughters; Ginger & Jim Evans, Karen Winslow, Denise & Doug Bobbitt, Linda Sinclair (honorary daughter), his siblings; Beverly Adkins, Kathy Brown, Judy & Jack Crawford, Nancy Moore, Terry & Kay Sanders, Peggy & Mike Hamby, his beloved grandchildren; Joy & Bryce Stutt, Brian Winslow & Rubie Cuevas, Tim & Desiree Winslow, Kenny & Winslow Winslow, Brandi & Shannon Lunsford, Eric & Samantha Crouse, Caitlin Bobbitt & Devin Leftwich; his cherished great-grandchildren, Macy Lunsford, Ryland Rintaniemi, Parker Lunsford, Emma Lunsford, Cadence Crouse, Dean Leftwich, Jack Leftwich, Jackson Winslow, Jacob Winslow and Lincoln Winslow. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and dear friends. 

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, B.T. & Edna Sanders, his sister, Shirley Sanders & his son-in-law, Craig Winslow. 

Forever Remembered: Although his passing leaves an immeasurable void, the love Jerry gave, the memories he created and the time he shared with family and friends will remain in their hearts forever. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him. 

In lieu of flowers the family kindly requests that donations be made to Echo Ministry/The Ark or Tri-County Christian Crisis Ministry - Food Distribution Center. These organizations reflect Jerry’s caring spirit and love. 

A Celebration of Life and service will be held at Jonesville First Baptist Church Thursday, October 29th at 2:00pm with Rev. Roger Hensley officiating. The family will visit with friends prior to the service from 12:00 to 2:00pm. A private burial service will be held at Dennyville First Baptist Church.
