YADKINVILLE - Mr. Jerry Wayne Spillman, 73, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 17, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of kindness, hard work, and devotion to the people and community he loved.
Jerry was born May 20, 1953, in Yadkin County to Herman Eugene and Mary Ruth Williams Spillman. A lifelong member of the community, Jerry was perhaps best known as the owner and operator of Spillman Tire Company, which he faithfully operated for more than 40 years. Through his business, he came to know countless people, many of whom became more than customers—they became friends. Jerry had a genuine desire to help others, and his kind and generous spirit touched many lives throughout the years. He was always willing to lend a hand, offer a kind word, or simply take the time to visit with someone who stopped by.
Jerry was happiest when he was working with his hands and enjoying the simple pleasures of country life. He loved tractors, gardening, farming, and horses, and he took great pride in the land and the work that came with it. More than anything, however, Jerry loved his family. His devotion to those closest to him was at the heart of the life he lived, and the memories they made together will remain a treasured part of his legacy.
When his health permitted, Jerry attended Faith Community Church. His life reflected many of the qualities he valued deeply—kindness, generosity, friendship, and a willingness to help others without expecting anything in return.
He was preceded in death by his father, Herman Eugene Spillman; and his grandparents, Robert Ellis and Vexie Williams, and John Henry and Vernie Spillman.
Those left to cherish Jerry's memory include his daughter, Tammy S. Spillman (Robin Smith); his special friend, caretaker, and partner, Olivia Guy; his mother, Mary Ruth Williams Spillman; his brothers, Eugene (Pat) Spillman, Danny (Susanne) Spillman, and Roger (Kay) Spillman; and his nieces and nephews, Jennifer (James) Moore, Johnny (Kara) Spillman, Joanna (Kenan) Swaim, Blake (Elizabeth) Spillman, Mardi Spillman and fiancé Nicholas Hepler, Matthew (Madison) Spillman, and Maggie Spillman.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Wednesday at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville. His Funeral Service will be 2:00 PM Thursday in the Gentry Family Chapel by Rev. Brian Poindexter and Rev. Tim Webb. Interment will follow in the Courtney Baptist Church Cemetery. There will be a time of fellowship to receive family and friends after the graveside service on Thursday at Spillman Tire Shop on Lee Avenue in Yadkinville.
Flowers will be accepted or Memorials may be made to Trellis of Winston-Salem, 101 Hospice lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
Jerry will be remembered not simply for the many years he spent serving his community, but for the way he treated people—with warmth, generosity, and a sincere desire to help. His was a life rooted in family, friendship, hard work, and the land he loved. Though his presence will be deeply missed, the kindness he shared so freely and the many lives he touched will ensure that his memory lives on for years to come.
