Jessie Howell Heffner

Ms. Jessie Howell Heffner, 93, passed away on Wednesday, May 13, 2026 in Maggie Valley, NC. She was born in Yadkin County on July 7, 1932 to Trigg Howell and Kate Reynolds Howell. Jessie earned her Master of Fine Arts from UNC Greensboro, which was a milestone that remained a great honor throughout her life. She will be deeply missed by those who loved her.

She is survived by her loving son, Barry Heffner, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Nelson Heffner; sisters, Hazel Howell Pike and Peggy Jo Howell Myers; and brothers, Glen Howell, Locket Howell, Price Howell, and Gray Howell.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. on Sunday, May 17, 2026 at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville. A graveside service will immediately follow the visitation at Yadkin Memorial Gardens. Gentry Family Funeral Service of Yadkinville is serving the Heffner family.
