Jessie Ruth Walker Dobbins

Jessie Ruth Walker Dobbins, 97, passed away April 28, 2022. She was born October 6, 1924 to the late William S. Walker and Rosa Lee Renegar Walker. She graduated from Yadkinville High School, class of ’44. She also attended Elkin Business College. She was active in Civic Affairs in her younger years and helped to start the Yadkin Country Club, serving on the original Board of Directors. She served as secretary and treasurer and on many other committees. She was also a member of Yadkinville Woman’s Club. She retired from the federal government (USDA) with 28 years of service. Jessie Ruth, or “Jo” as friends and family members called her, was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She loved her family and her church family very much. She was a member of Harmony Grove Church and attended Grace Bible Church as long as health permitted. Her faith in her God and His works was heartwarming. Jessie Ruth is survived by her son, David C. Dobbins & wife Talmage; grandson, Justin Walker Dobbins who was her pride and joy; and other family members. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her Husband, Charles B. Dobbins; daughter Sheliah Faye Dobbins; four brothers, Donald Wilson Walker, James William Walker, Locksley Hugh Walker and Johnson Edward Walker. Her funeral service will be held 3:00PM Thursday, May 5, 2022 at Gentry Family Chapel in Yadkinville by the Rev. Nelson Spaulding. Burial will follow at Harmony Grove Friends Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 2:00 to 3:00PM Thursday at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville.
