Jimmy Collins

     Jimmy Columbus Collins, 77, went to be with his Lord and Savior on the 10th of September, 2026 peacefully at home with the love of his life by his side. He was born to the late Joshua and Katie Collins on January 19th, 1949. Jimmy was a long-term member of Northwood Baptist Church, where he and his wife would attend faithfully. He lived his faith by showing compassion and care to others, without ever expecting anything in return. Jimmy retired from Dan Beck Ford in Yadkinville after 38 years, then he retired from Winston-Salem/Forsyth County schools in 2011. He loved spending his time outdoors fishing, boating, camping, and entering truck pulls with his self-modified 1979 Ford named “John 3:16”. Jimmy loved his family above all else and cherished the memories made with his grandchildren, and teaching them life-lessons they would carry throughout their lives. He was a man of few words with large impact.

     In addition to his parents, Jimmy was preceded in death by his brothers, Larry and Anthony Collins. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, whom he met in the high school stairwell, Hilda Collins; sons, Jimmy Lee Collins, Gray Collins; grandchildren, Dustin (Emily) Collins, Shallon (Eric) Crowson, Michael (Jill) Collins, Ashley (Donovan) Oke; great-grandchildren, Mason, Alexis, Skylar, Rylee, Mila, Elaina, Emmett, William, Iris; and his brother, Tommy (Judy) Collins.

     The family will be holding a visitation at Northwood Baptist Church from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M on Saturday, September 12th. A funeral service will take place following the visitation at 2:00 P.M with Preacher Tim Webb officiating, and Jimmy’s longtime friend, Preacher Keith Stanley Speaking. Burial will proceed after the funeral service in the church cemetery. The staff of Gentry Family Funeral Service of Yadkinville will be serving the Collins family.
