Joan Kuhnow Simpson

Mrs. Joan Kuhnow Simpson, 82, passed away on Friday, June 26, 2026. She was born in Brooklyn, NY on September 27, 1943 to William Kuhnow and Ethel Serviss Kuhnow. She graduated from Grover Cleveland High School. Following high school, she went to St. John’s University and graduated with a degree in mathematics. After moving to North Carolina, Joan worked at Wachovia Bank for 15 years as a senior letter of credit document examiner. She then had to stop working for a time while she became the caregiver for her elder mother and disabled husband. Later in life she worked at Lowes Home Improvement as a cashier for 10 years, and then before retiring, she worked at Office Max as a cashier for 10 years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Larry Simpson from Winston-Salem, NC. No formal services will be held at this time.
