Mr. Joseph “Joe” Christopher Gordon, 40, passed away Tuesday, July 21, 2026. He was born in Yadkin County on May 16, 1986 to Joey Gordon and Jennifer Steelman Wohlrab. Joe attended Appalachian State University, where he was working toward his bachelor degree in computer science and was employed as an automation engineer. During his time in college, he worked full time and spent the rest of his time studying – he had a strong determination. He loved everything outdoors and spent a lot of his time gardening. Joe made the very best pickles. He always enjoyed summertime and liked to go on cruises. Joe was an avid animal person, but he especially liked chameleons. He always dreamed of traveling the world. Joe adored his nieces and nephews who affectionately called him “Uncle Joe”. He had the very best personality. Joe would do anything to make the kids laugh, even if it was embarrassing. He never met a stranger and was kind to everyone he met. Most of all, he loved being a dad to his girls. Joe was so loved and will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his wife of almost 12 years, Noelle Gordon; daughters, Alana Faith Gordon and Skyler Eller; parents, Joey (Sandra) Gordon and Jennifer (Todd) Wohlrab; sister, Jessica (Neil) Gilpin; brother, Jacob Gordon; nieces and nephews, Grayson Gilpin, Caleb Gilpin, Skylar Gilpin, Ava Gilpin, Lilly Gilpin, Grace Gilpin, Ember Robertson, and Colton Robertson; mother-in-law, Donna Robertson; brothers-in-law, Andrew (Emily) Robertson and Justin (Brittany) Howell; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and special friends, Stephen Ford and Frank Crothers. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, James and Ola Gordon, and Jeanne and Albert Steelman.
