Joseph Hugh Loflin Jr. a Loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather age 92, climbed the ladder to heaven to meet the good lord above on Tuesday August 1, 2023. He grew up in the Courtney area in Yadkin County NC and resided there his whole life. In his 92 years there were so many accomplishments he achieved. In 1960 he established Loflin Handle Co. Inc., producing hickory striking handles, he was also a Tobacco Farmer for 50 plus years, Poultry Farmer, Beef Cattle Farmer, Real Estate Broker and he established Courtney General Hardware Store. Jr was a member of Turner’s Creek Baptist church, Jr was a member of the Courtney Masonic Lodge, he at one time was a member of Courtney Volunteer Fire Department, in his younger years he was part of a local bluegrass band “the Bull Hill Ramblers” playing acoustic guitar at local fiddler conventions. Jr was a very compassionate person and always took the time to talk to everyone. He enjoyed being at his hardware store and visiting with everyone. Jr’s hobbies were playing checkers and Indian arrowhead collecting. Jr. married Minnie Merline Myers Loflin in 1950 and they enjoyed 59 years of marriage until Minnie’s passing in 2009. They had 3 daughters Rebecca Valley Loflin Tomlin (Al), Elizabeth Charlene Loflin Gonzalez (Nicolas) and Betina Robin Loflin Gonzalez (Benigno). Jr. loved and enjoyed his 6 grandchildren Samyra Ann Tomlin Tripp (Roy), Heather Jolyn Tomlin, Rosa Andrea Gonzalez Lovejoy (Ronnie), Joseph Allen Tomlin Jr., Courtney Merline Carrington Wells (Kevin), Joseph Cruz Gonzalez (Renae). Jr’s family tree branches further he has 12 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Minnie, his daughter Rebecca and his daughter Elizabeth. Jr. is survived by daughter Betina, his 6 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Jr. was born second son to Joseph Hugh Loflin Sr. and Flossie Lillian Rupard Loflin. He is survived by 2 sisters Barbara Ann Loflin and Charlotte Gray Loflin Miller. He is preceded in death by his father, mother, older brother Turner Delano Loflin, his younger sister Pansy Alean Furches and younger brother Robert Sherill Loflin. Family will receive friends on Thursday August 3, 2023 from 5pm to 8 pm at Gentry Family Funeral Service Yadkinville, NC. A service to celebrate a life well lived will be held at Turners Creek Baptist Church Saturday August 5, 2023 from 11am to 12pm with Pastor Scott Welch and Reverend Dr. Edwin Lee Plowman officiating, afterward the burial internment will be held at the Loflin Cemetery located on Harvel School Rd. Yadkinville, NC. A luncheon will be served after the burial for family and friends in the Turners Creek Baptist Church fellowship hall. Special thanks to Janie Royal for being such a special friend to Jr. Thanks and gratitude to Marie Montezuma for being a wonderful caregiver to Jr. during his last few years. The family wants to thank whole heartedly the Organization of Mountain Valley Hospice, for their excellent care for Jr. during his illness. Their care and compassion is greatly appreciated.
