Boonville Mrs. Judy Carolyn Adams Byrd Simmons, 73, passed away Sunday, February 26, 2023 at her home. Judy was born July 3, 1949 in Surry County to Alfred Carlton and Dorothy Mae Snow Adams. She was a member of Fall Creek Baptist Church. She loved Elvis, playing BINGO and watching gameshows. In addition to her parents, Judy was preceded in death by her first husband, Jerry “Dean” Byrd and her second husband, James “Pete” Simmons. She is survived by her children, Sonya (Barry) Allen, Brent (Sandra) Byrd, and Deana Welborn; grandchildren, Justin (Andrea) Phillips, McKenzie (Roger) Greene, Jacob (Brittany) Allen, Taylor (Tomas) Gonzales, Brittany Byrd, Harley & Natisha Vestal, Blake Haynes, Tanner Church, and Ragan Welborn; great grandchildren, Anna, Halle, Karsyn, Eddie, Jaci, Abigail, Zoey, and Ana Victoria; a loving brother and special sister-in-law, Donnie & Vickie Adams; special niece and nephew, Jennifer Foster and Greg Brown; and special friends and neighbors, Guy and Joyce Prim, Kay Bullin, Karen Hayworth, Lois Sizemore, Kay Hobson, Denny & Debbie Cox, and Judy Walker. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00PM, Wednesday, March 1, 2023 at Gentry Family Chapel in Yadkinville with Pastor Josh Blevins officiating. Burial will follow at Island Ford Baptist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00PM prior to the service at the funeral home. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to Judy’s special friends and caregivers, Ruth Ann Wall, Sharon Cave, and Luann Nelson, and the staff of Mtn. Valley Hospice, especially Dana & Jamie, for the loving care given to Judy. Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville is serving the Byrd family.
