Larry Dean Hutchens

Siloam – Larry Dean Hutchens, 64, passed away Saturday, August 15, 2026. He was born May 25, 1962 in Forsyth County.

Larry loved Sponge Bob Square Pants, Smurfs, and riding his Vulcan motorcycle. He was a very adventurous man who was not afraid to face a challenge. He always faced them head-on.

Larry is the 2nd of 5 children. He has always been very clever and loved reading. One summer, he had no books that he wanted to read so he read the World Book Encyclopedia from the front cover of A to the back cover of Z! One exciting adventure he took was a trek on a large portion of the Appalachian Trail. He said that talks with God along the way helped him make it through. His favorite hobbies lately have been growing medicinal plants, growing gourds to make into art and wood crafting.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Keith Hutchens; brother-in-law, Charles Sale; and a nephew, Justin Sale. He is survived by his father, Roger Paul Hutchens; mother, Mattie Creed Hutchens; sister, Debbie Sale; brothers, Robert (Peggy) Hutchens, Greg Hutchens; half-brother, Eddie Ray (Sara) Hutchens; cousins, Dalton Creed, Michael (Penny) Creed, and Stevie (Robin) Creed.

His memorial service will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, August 22, 2026 at Gentry Family Chapel in East Bend by the Rev. Lincoln Hobson.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to American Cancer Society, PO Box 6704, Hagerstown, MD 21741 or to Operation Christmas Child, PO Box 3000, Boone NC 28607.

The family would like to thank Dr. Susan Hines and her staff, the radiology staff at Derrick Davis Cancer Institute, and Calvin Mooney who was a long-time friend and tag-along buddy for all of their love and care shown to Larry.
