Linda Lane Hobson

Hobson East Bend - Mrs. Linda Leigh Lane Hobson, 72, passed away peacefully Saturday, January 13, 2024 at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born March 1, 1951 in Kingsport, TN to James “Jack” and Wilma Mullins Lane. She moved to Stanleyville, NC at an early age and started working with R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company for several years, and later with Republic Mortgage Insurance Corporation in Winston-Salem. She married Kenneth Gray Hobson on June 9, 1979, where they built a home and began a wonderful life together with their family. She was an active member of Richmond Hill Baptist Church for 45 years where she served the church faithfully in the Purple Hats, Sunday School Teacher, Peru Mission Team, Bags of Love Mission Team, and was lovingly known as “Grandma” to everyone especially all the church kids. Grandma loved her church family, and especially loved being a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother to her family. She was preceded in death by her Daddy and brother-in-law Denny Hobson. Surviving are her beloved husband, Kenneth Gray Hobson; her 2 children, Julia Marie Hobson and James Kenneth Hobson and wife, Jennifer; her grandchildren whom she adored, Jordan Kenneth “#1”, Jemma Kenleigh “Princess”, Jason Gray “Lil Prince”; her mother, Wilma M. Lane; sister and brother, Cynthia “Cindy” Lane, Mark (Linda Ruth) Lane; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Clara Hobson Hine, Dan Hobson, Barbara D. Hobson; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, friends, and her church family. The family will receive friends from 1-3 PM Wednesday at Richmond Hill Baptist Church Family Life Center. Her Celebration of Life Service will follow the visitation at 3 PM Wednesday in the Family Life Center by the Pastor Luke Money. The family would like to give a special thanks to the 2nd floor ICU nurses and staff of Forsyth Medical Center and to Lori Moore for all the care and love shown to Grandma. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials may be made to the Richmond Hill Baptist Church Bags of Love Ministry, ATTN: Purple Hats, 2205 Richmond Hill Church Road, Boonville, NC 27011.
