Linda Hutchens Williams

Linda Lou Hutchens Williams, 85, of Yadkinville, NC, went home to be with her Lord and Saviour, on July 6th, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

Born November 25, 1939, in Yadkin County, Linda was the daughter of the late Lee Hutchens and Minnie Driver Hutchens. She was a lifelong and devoted member of Pilot View Friends Meeting, where she faithfully played the organ every Sunday, and was church treasurer for many years, along with many other church positions.

Linda had a heart for service and people. Known for her warm smile and generous spirit, she never met a stranger. She served her community tirelessly as a legal secretary, Yadkin County Tax Collector for 21 years, and was owner of Linda’s Tax & Bookkeeping Service over 60 years, which brought her joy, not from the numbers, but from the many people she got to meet and reconnect with each year. She was very active in her community and served on several different boards including Yadkin County Board of Education, Children’s Center of NW North Carolina, Council on Aging, Social Services and others. She was also a member of The Rotary Club for several years.

Family was at the center of Linda’s life. She loved nothing more than cooking for her family and spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren who were her pride and joy and brought her endless happiness. She was an amazing cook and was known for her cakes and “chicken tenders”.

In addition to her parents, Linda was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Wesley Williams; great-grandson, Nolan Lee Williams; and sisters, Hazel Casstevens and Betty Jo Williams. She is survived by her loving daughter, Ann (Kenne) Baity; son, Perry (Zoe) Williams; grandchildren, Gray Williams, Jessica Williams, Brooke Baity, and Adam (Macy) Baity; great-granddaughter, Piper Williams; brother, Jimmy Hutchens, sister-in-law, Beatrice Hobson, as well as many cherished nieces and nephews and several very special friends.

A funeral service to celebrate Linda’s life will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday at Pilot View Friends Meeting, officiated by Rev. Josh Williams, Rev. Nelson Puffenbarger, and Rev. Brian Poindexter. She will lie in-state 30 minutes prior to the service in the church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00-8:00 PM Tuesday at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to all who shared their love, prayers, and support during Linda’s life and final days.
