Boonville

Boonville - Lois Sue Wagoner Vestal peacefully transitioned to her Heavenly Home on October 20, 2026 surrounded by her family. She was born on February 4, 1938 to John and Maggie Wagoner, the oldest of her siblings. Mrs. Vestal graduated from Boonville High School in 1957.

Mrs. Vestal married Wayne F. Vestal, and they made their home on Center Road in Boonville for 69 years. She loved baking cakes and meals for the community. She was an active member of Shady Grove Baptist Church where she participated in GAs, WMU, Sunday School, Vacation Bible School and entertained pastors and visiting pastors with meals. She was a very talented seamstress.

The love of Mrs. Vestal’s life was her family. Four children are left to survive her precious memory: Deborah Vestal Combs of Greensboro, NC, Janet Vestal Augustine (John) of Jonesville, NC, Kenneth (April) Vestal of Jonesville, NC and Sandra Vestal Blaha (Drew) of Greensboro, NC. Eight grandchildren include Allison Augustine Vincell (Joe) of Franklin, WVA, Adam Combs (Casey) of Richmond, VA, David Vestal (Ashley) of Yadkinville, NC, Anne Hayley Combs Koch (Oliver) of Raleigh, NC, Jonathan Blaha (Ellen) of Washington, DC, Michael Blaha (Grace) of Columbus, Ohio, Ashlynn Blaha (Nijah) of Atlanta, GA and Noah Vestal (Aly) of Jonesville, NC. Two additional great grandchildren, Blaha little boy and Vestal little girl are on the way

Surviving siblings include Martha Macemore, Jack Wagoner, and Frank (Carolene) Wagoner. Mrs. Vestal was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and siblings Philip and Joe Wagoner. Her nieces and nephews were very special to her as were her friends and church community. Her unconditional love for all was unmatched.

Mrs. Vestal was “Grandmoma” to many children whom she kept in her in-home daycare. She loved each of them as if they were her own.

The family is especially grateful to her Pastor Chris Benefield, Mountain Valley Hospice home staff, and the staff at The Woltz Hospice House and Dr. Wait for their special care and compassion.
