Nelson Vestal

Luther “Nelson” Vestal, 86, of Yadkinville, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 13, 2026 at the SECU Hospice House. He was born on July 4, 1940, in Yadkin County to the late John Luther and Bessie Brown Vestal. Nelson enjoyed fishing going to the beach with his family and in his earlier years, hunting and running rabbit dogs. Mr. Vestal deeply loved his family above all else and cherished his time with them.

In addition to his parents, Nelson was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 64 years, Frances Salmons Vestal, infant daughter, Tina Darlene Vestal, brother, John Allen Vestal, four half-brothers, one half-sister and step-dad, Lonnie Stallings. Those left to cherish his memory include his daughters, Tammie (Shawn) Wooten, Sandy (Robbie) Gough; grandson, Nathan (Kasey) Gough and great-grandchildren, Benton Gough, Weston Johnson.

The family will visit with friends on Sunday, August 16, from 2:00 to 3:00 PM at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville. Funeral service will follow in the Gentry Chapel at 3:00 PM with Rev. Wayne Moose officiating. Burial will follow at Yadkinville Pentecostal Holiness Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Mountain Valley - SECU Hospice Care Center of Yadkin at 243 N Lee Ave, Yadkinville, NC 27055.
