YADKINVILLE — Mrs. Mae Flynt Burcham, 87, of Bettie Street, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, January 27, 2026.
Mrs. Burcham was born May 30, 1938, in Forsyth County to the late Robert and Beulah Hill Flynt. She retired after many years of dedicated service working in the office of The Yadkin Ripple and was a faithful member of Deep Creek Baptist Church.
Mae lived a life marked by quiet service and kindness to others. She devoted many years volunteering with Yadkin Christian Ministries and remained active in the Joy Club at Deep Creek Baptist Church. She found contentment at home, where she enjoyed reading, sewing, cleaning, and spending time with friends and neighbors in Yadkinville. One of her greatest joys was sharing meals and laughter while dining out with her dear friend, Brenda Royal.
Second to her faith in God, Mae’s greatest love was her family, especially her beloved grandchildren. She was always willing to help in any way she could and cherished every moment spent with each of them, offering unwavering love, encouragement, and support.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Burcham was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Elwin Burcham, Jr.; her daughter, Beth B. Parrish; one sister; and eight of her nine brothers.
She is survived by her devoted daughter, Amy Jo Burcham, and husband Jeff Patton; grandchildren, Brandon Patton (Elizabeth Dahlman Patton), Emily Parrish (Kane Lynch), Adam Patton, Sarah Patton, Katie Patton (fiancé Carey Harrell), and Megan Patton; great-grandchildren, Connor Patton and Lucy Mae Patton; and her brother, Elmer Flynt.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Monday in the Gentry Family Chapel, officiated by Rev. Kenny Gooden. Interment will follow in Yadkin Memorial Gardens.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the neighbors, friends, and church family who supported Mrs. Burcham throughout her illness. A special thank you is offered to Woodie and Linda Gough for their prayers, visits, phone calls, and generosity over the past several years. The family also wishes to express sincere appreciation to Mountain Valley Hospice for their compassion and care during Mrs. Burcham’s final weeks at home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Baptist Children’s Home, PO Box 338, Thomasville, NC 27361, Yadkin Christian Ministries, 117 Woodlyn Drive, Yadkinville, NC 27055 or Mountain Valley Hospice, 243 East Lee Ave., Yadkinville, NC 27055, or to a charity of the Donor’s choice.
