Magdalene Huffman passed away on the 25th of December, 2025. She was born on April 1st, 1937 to the late Leonard and Ola Stokes. Magdalene had a green thumb and showed it by working in her flower garden. She had many other enjoyments like watching television and listing to old gospel music. She had a love for animals, especially birds and cats. Magdalene also loved telling stories about her childhood growing up on a tobacco farm with her siblings. She loved to travel to the mountains and go to places like Cherokee, Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, Boone, and Blowing Rock. Magdalene also enjoyed attending Mountain Grove United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir as a young lady. She loved her family above all else and would check up on them every chance she could.
In addition to her parents, Magdalene was preceded in death by her children, Robie (Charlie) Gibson, Terry Dale Stokes; sister, Bernice Brown; brothers, Ben Stokes, Clayton Stokes, Hubert Stokes; and half-brothers, George and Weldon Swaim. Those left to cherish her memories are her husband of over 35 years, James Don Huffman; grandchildren, Misti Burchette, Lakin (Kyle Shermer) Holbrook; great-grandchildren, Logan Burchette, Linkin Burchette, Gatlyn Shermer; and brothers, W. G. and Worth Stokes.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, January 4th, 2025, from 3:30 to 4:00 PM at Gentry Family Funeral Service of Jonesville. A memorial service will follow the visitation at 4:00 PM in the Gentry Family Chapel. The family would like to give thanks to the caring staff of Mountain Valley Hospice, Dr. Arias, and Larry Irwin of Elk Pharmacy for all their help and care of Magdalene over the years.
