Margaret Louise Allen Mason, 85, entered heaven and walked into the arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Thursday, October 15, 2026, at home in Southern Pines, N.C.

She was born on January 26, 1941, on her grandparents’ farm, in Hamptonville, N.C., to Alvis Gray Allen and Hazel Lucille Campbell Allen.

Margaret had a smile that lit up any room. Her gleaming eyes communicated love and joy even when her voice no longer could. She loved being around people. A “social butterfly”, Margaret took great pleasure in attending services, bible study, small group and singing in the choir at Christ Community Church in West End, N.C.

Going on any outing delighted Margaret. Whether walking in her neighborhood, Historic Knollwood Heights, in downtown Southern Pines, around Reservoir Park, or Aberdeen Lake, Margaret was always ready to lace up her walking shoes and head out the door. Going to lunch with a caregiver brought Margaret great joy as well. A hot dog from The Ice Cream Parlor in downtown Southern Pines was always a welcomed treat.

Sunday afternoons during NASCAR season Margaret was certainly in front of the television cheering on her favorite drivers. She rarely missed watching a race. Margaret was a Richard Petty fan for many decades. In more recent years, Martin Truex, Jr. was her favorite driver.

Margaret had also been a huge Elvis Presley fan. She enjoyed not only Elvis’ rock ‘n’ roll music, but also his gospel songs. Singing along with Elvis’ gospel songs was a daily part of Margaret’s morning routine. When she could no longer sing, Margaret moved her lips with the lyrics.

Margaret is survived by her sister, Cynthia Bowen, sister-in-law Sharon Allen, daughter, Beverly Walsh, son, Allen Styers (Freda), grandchildren Ryan Walsh (Joan), Caitlin Walsh (Mike), Casey Jordan (Jason), David Renegar (Kasey), Logan Styers (Alyssa), Angela Spaugh (Grayson), great-grandchildren Rae Renegar, Bo Renegar, Hudson Spaugh, and Kimber Jane Styers, nieces Angell Caudill (Wes), Paige Thomas, Natalie East (Josh), nephews Damon Allen (Enrique), Scott Bowen (Caroline), and great-nephews Bradley Bowen, Owen East and Liam East. Margaret is also survived by many cousins and friends.

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, and brother, Robert Gray Allen.

With an enormous amount of gratitude, Margaret’s family wishes to thank Dr. Miller Johnstone, Katie Lavrago, N.P., the nursing staff and office personnel of First Health Concierge Medicine for their kindness and compassion shown to Margaret. Her medical care while a patient there was exemplary.

Margaret was also blessed with wonderful caregivers over the past few years. She always looked forward to her time with them. Thank you to Mara Fiskin, Ann Marie Clark, Holly McMillan, Angell Boggs and Lauren Platt for the time you spent caring for and engaging in activities with her.

A sincere thank you to the team at First Health Hospice for the medical care and support Margaret received while in Hospice care at home.
