EAST BEND - Ms Marie Taylor, 83, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, September 8, 2026. She was born February 20, 1943, in Yadkin County to the late Charlie Frank “Ted” Taylor and Vivian Irene Shugart Taylor.
Ms Taylor retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company following 34 years of dedicated service and was a member of East Bend Baptist Church.
Marie found happiness in the simple things that made a house feel like home. She enjoyed working in her garden and lovingly caring for her beloved pets, Maddie the dog and RJ the cat. Above all, however, her greatest joy was her family. She treasured every opportunity to spend time with those she loved, whether reminiscing about years gone by, gathering around the table for a competitive game of UNO or Monopoly, working puzzles and word searches, or keeping up with everyone as the family’s beloved “iPad Grandma.” Those ordinary moments became some of the most precious memories she leaves behind.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three infant children; her daughter, Kathy Ann Eads; her sons, Tony Gray Eads and Stonie Delon Eads; her brother, Charles Zachary Taylor and his wife, Lois; her brother, Richard Frank Taylor and his wife, Linda; and her niece, Angie Renee Taylor.
Left to cherish her memory are her devoted children, Amanda Eads Greenwood and husband, Kim, and Michael Alan Eads and wife, Sonja; three grandchildren, Taylor York Cure and husband, Clint, Ryan Zachary Eads and wife, Courtney, and Evan Alexander Eads and wife, Samantha; her brother, David Lee Taylor and wife, Vickie; several nieces, nephews, and her childhood friend, Mary E. Brown.
The family will receive friends from 9:30 to 10:30 AM Thursday at Gentry Family Funeral Service in East Bend. A graveside service will follow the visitation at 11:00 AM Thursday in Boonville Cemetery.
Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to the Boonville Community Cemetery Fund, 2953 Speer Road, Boonville, NC 27011 or Mountain Valley Hospice, 516 Hawthorne Drive, Yadkinville, NC 27055.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the special caregivers who so willingly gave of themselves to help care for their mother and allowed her to remain surrounded by love and comfort of her own home. A special thank you is extended to her neighbor, Vallorie Blaylock; Jackie Campbell; Tamera Cox; and the compassionate staff of Mountain Valley Hospice. Their kindness, care, and support will always be deeply appreciated.
Marie will be remembered for the love she gave her family, the memories she treasured, and the joy she found simply being together with those who meant the most to her. Her family will carry those memories with them and will forever be grateful for the many years they were blessed to share with her.
