Martha Mason Brown

January 19, 1930 — March 23, 2023

Mrs. Martha Ellen Mason Brown passed away on March 23rd, 2023 at the age of 93. She was born January 19th, 1930 to Paul and Claudia (Née Wall) Mason in Winston Salem, NC. She spent her formative years in Mocksville, NC and graduated from Mocksville High School. Martha married Conrad Brown at the age of eighteen. This marriage developed into a lifelong friendship of 74 years marked by constancy, laughter, and tenderness. They have left a wonderful legacy of joy and faithfulness that will serve as a foundation of hope for their children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and many others for years to come. Martha will be remembered for her exuberant embrace of life, pursuit of excellence, infectious sense of humor, and faith in the reality of Christ. She relished life pursuits with her husband (and best friend) which included golf, camping, travel, and community service. Her life was marked by an ever increasing faithfulness as a daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, wife and friend. The Psalmist speaks of people of faith who go through life’s journeys of joys and sorrows with an attitude that allows them to go from “strength to strength” even making the desolate places “a place of springs” (Psalm 84:5-6). It can be said of Martha that she brought refreshment and joy to those around her on a consistent basis and made daily living “a place of springs”. She has fought the good fight of faith (2 Timothy 4:7-8) and her legacy is solid and enduring. She was preceded in death by her husband Conrad (October 13, 2022), father Paul, mother Claudia, brothers George, Paul, and Bill; and daughter-in-law, Julia H. Brown. She is survived by sons, Rev. Buster (Sara) Brown, Foy (Traci) Brown, brother-in-law Leonard Brown, five grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. The family is indebted to Parkwood Independent Living in Elkin and Yadkinville Nursing Center for their compassionate care of both Martha and Conrad. On Monday, March 27th, the family will receive visitors from 10 - 11 am at First Baptist Church of Yadkinville, 304 South State St, Yadkinville, NC 27055. The memorial service will begin at 11:00, with burial to follow at Harmony Grove Friends Cemetery. Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville is serving the Brown family.
