Martha “Janette” Rodefer, 79, went to be with her Lord on Saturday, May 9, 2026, after a short illness, in Yadkinville, NC. Janette was born in Sullivan County, Tennessee, to the late Carl and Maxie Cain Rodefer. She lived all her life in Blountville, TN, until moving to NC a year and a half ago.
Janette was kind and loving to everyone she met. She enjoyed traveling with friends. Janette loved her dogs, flowers and most of all she enjoyed her family. Before her extensive nursing career, she worked at Kingsport Press. Once becoming a registered nurse, Janette worked at Indian Path Hospital in Kingsport, TN, the VA Hospital in Johnson City, TN and Home Health, working from 1985 till her retirement 35 years later.
In addition to her parents, Janette was preceded in death by a brother, Luther Rodefer, sister, Stacy Price, niece, Kimberly Walters and special friend, Anna Ruth Hale.
Those left to cherish her memory include her sisters, Betty Rodefer and Velma (Ralph) Williams, nieces, Sheila (Jonathan) Phillips and Melissa Davis, nephew, Stephen Price, numerous great nieces and great great nieces and nephew and sister-in-law, Etta Mae Rodefer.
A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2026, at 1:00 pm at Cassidy Methodist Church, 5801 Memorial Blvd, Kingsport, TN 37664, with Rev. Dr. Tom Hancock and Rev. Bruce Updyke officiating.
Gentry Family Funeral Service of Yadkinville is serving the Rodefer family.
