Mary "Mimi" Stockton Cranfill

December 9, 1942 — September 22, 2022

Mary "Mimi" Cranfill, wife of Joseph "Joe" Cranfill, passed away on September 22, 2022 after a short stay at the SECU Hospice House in Yadkinville. Mimi was the mother of Angel Mitchell and Jake Adams and mother-in-law to Kim Gordon Adams. She was Nana to Savanna, Rebecca, Lindsay, and Jacob, and Great Nana to Grayson. Her brother David Stockton (Jill) preceded her in death. Her sister Susan White (Glen) was with her in her final days, along with her daughter Janet White Sutphin and family. Mimi loved God and her church. At one point in her life she did missionary work in South Africa and often said it was the experience of a lifetime. She loved to sew, always choosing bright and colorful fabrics that would make you smile. For many years she was a faithful volunteer at the Lifeline Pregnancy Help Center. Mimi enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and supporting them in their activities and athletics. Mimi found the love of her life in 2016, and she and Joe were inseparable over the last six years. They loved to do God’s work together, raising chickens and cows, and canning vegetables from their garden, always sharing their bounty with others. The celebration of her life will take place on Saturday, October 1, 2022 at Peace Haven Baptist Church. The family will receive guests starting at 1:30 p.m., followed by a service at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Mountain Valley Hospice Center, where devoted staff provided care, enabling her to pass with comfort and dignity. Mimi will be greatly missed by her family, friends, and her cat Tippy.
