Mary Elizabeth Church Raker, 89, passed away on April 27, 2024. She was born on February 28, 1935 in Forsyth County to the late Evert Garvy Church and Virginia Lewis Church. Mary enjoyed painting, wearing bright colors, and her furry companion, Zoey.
In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Paul Raker; sisters, Margaret Church Porth and Eva May Church Hord. Mary is survived by her nieces and nephews, Kenneth (Sharon) Fulk, Jr., Karen (Sam) Sparks, Kelly E. Whitley, Kathy F. Hayes, Evert K. (Cheryle) Hord, Peggy (Rich) Richardson, Bill A. (Jennifer) Porth, Rodney C. (Stacy) Porth; brother-in-law, Bill Porth; and several great nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Mary’s special neighbors, Jim and Jaulita Sullivan for their love and care to Mary over the years. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Fraternity Church of the Brethren at 3760 Fraternity Church Rd, Winston-Salem, NC 27127.
