Mrs. Mattie Lee Wagoner Adams, 96, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, May 23, 2025. Mattie was born on January 3, 1929 to Lee and Esther Vanhoy Wagoner. Mattie was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend to everyone she met. She was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Yadkinville where she attended Faithfully until her health decline. Mattie worked at Hanes Hosiery in Winston Salem, then after retiring from there, she worked at the Yadkin Public Library where she enjoyed working with people on genealogy. She loved going to the Senior Center, as long as her health permitted. When she was no longer able to go to the Senior Center, she loved to do her word searches.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Hobert Marion Adams; an infant brother; and half-brothers, Clyde, George, Luke, and Dick Wagoner. Mattie is survived by her daughters, Timmie Wilson, Amy (David) Lee Adams, and Dana (David) Lynn Key; grandchildren, Rod (Roxana) Wilson, Matthew (Kelly) Wilson, Jeff (Biby) Wilson, Michael (Tara) Adams, Tracy (Toby) Clevenger, Jeremy (Jessica) Key, Jordan (Taylor) Key; 21 great grandchildren; and one great grandchild.
A funeral service for Mattie will be held on Tuesday, May 27, 2025 at 4:00PM at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with Rev. Brian Bradsher and Rev. Ben Burklow officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 3:00 - 4:00PM. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Yadkinville at 2725 Old US 421 E, Yadkinville, NC 27055 and Mountain Valley Hospice of Yadkinville at 243 N Lee Ave, Yadkinville, NC 27055.
The family would like to thank Lizz’s Compassionate Angels Home Care and Mountain Valley Hospice for all their loving care they provided for Mattie.
