Maude Lynn Myers

August 4, 1946 — October 19, 2023

Maude (Beau) Lynn Matthews Myers, 77, passed of natural causes in her home on Thursday, October 19, 2023. Originally from the Philadelphia area, she also enjoyed living in the mountains of Virginia and finally settling in the North Carolina foothills. She had a fulfilling life from enjoying childhood summers on Chesapeake Bay to being a teen dancing on American Bandstand and socializing with bands before they were celebrities, to early motherhood and being an independent woman of the 70’s. She survived being a young widow in the 80’s to find love again in the 90’s and continuing to enjoy the wholesome, quiet country life later welcoming grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a private person who held family and a small group of friends close to her heart. Known for her sarcastic wit, blunt honesty and a love to pick and tease brought joy and laughter to those fortunate to know her. A quick yet accurate judge of character, she believed one’s worth was found in how they treated others. Food for her family was an act of love - delicious Italian, Polish, and southern comfort dishes were always treasured. Her hobbies included reading, playing cards and board games, and puzzles. She enjoyed being grandma yet still treasured a girl’s trip with late friend Marie Bowen where getting lost was the usual and just added to their adventures. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband, George W. Myers; prior husbands Eden Ratliff and Kenny Hill; daughter Dora Long; sisters Dolores Ostan, Charlotte Halter, and Mary Arcomone. Those left to treasure her memory include her daughters, Kelly (Shane) Reynolds and Cherie (Ben) Myers-Bryant; grandchildren Allie Myers, Annabella Myers, Talesha (Stevie) Mullis, Shaelynn Reynolds; great grandchildren Ellie Myers-Parham, A.J. Myers, Grayson Mullis, Garrett Mullis, and Eleanor Mullis; and much loved nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. There will be a private family celebration of life at a later time. Memorials can be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care at 243 N Lee Ave., Yadkinville NC 27055. Gentry Family funeral service in Yadkinville is serving the Myers family.
