Boonville – Mr. Michael “Mike” Wayne Prim, 67, beloved husband, daddy, son, brother, and grampy, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 20, 2026. Mike was born in Yadkin County on January 2, 1959 to Nellie Baity Prim and Buddy Wayne Prim.
During his younger years Mike attended Forbush High School and Forsyth Tech. Mike worked at Unifi and then retired from Ingersoll Rand. Mike enjoyed life and lived it to the fullest. He enjoyed fishing trips with friends, car shows, corvettes, turning junk into treasures, smoking meats, perfecting recipes, “messing in the garden”, listening to records, woodworking and making things from nothing. He was a “Fixer” of all things. He loved to make dad jokes and hear people laugh. He especially loved his kids and grandkids, being involved in and a big part of their lives.
Mike is preceded in death by his mother, Nellie Baity Prim. Those left to cherish his memories are his loving wife, Joan Burton Prim; daughter, Casey (Jeremy) Millsaps; step-son, Ricky Huff; father, Buddy Prim; three beautiful granddaughters, Addison (Tyson) Shields-Garcia, Emma-Kate Shields and Ivy Shields; brothers, David (Allison) Prim and Joey (Shannon) Prim; brother-in-law, Johnny (Linda) Burton; sister-in-law, Kathy (Dale) Wilhelm; many nieces, nephews and cousins; and his K-9 companion, Sadie.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 24, 2026 from 1:30 to 3:00 PM prior to the service at Charity Baptist Church in Boonville, NC. His funeral Service will be held 3:00 PM Sunday at Charity Baptist Church by the Rev. Josh Williams and the Rev. Marty Nixon. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, 516 Hawthorne Drive, Yadkinville, NC 27055. Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville is serving the Prim family.
