SILOAM - Mrs. Minnie Sue Taylor Stanley, 83, of Atkinson Road passed away peacefully Monday, July 13, 2026. She was born July 10, 1943 in Surry County to the late Thurmond and Mabel Jenkins Taylor.
Mrs. Stanley worked for several years in the textile industry at various sites including Washington Mills. She then worked and retired with 20 years of service from Yadkin County School Systems as a custodian. Mrs. Stanley loved working outside, either mowing, planting her flowers, working in her garden, or canning her vegetables. She especially loved her grandchildren, and always cherished the times she could be with them especially on trips to Kure Beach.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her beloved husband, John “J.C.” Stanley; and by her 2 brothers, Kenneth Taylor and Ralph Taylor. Surviving are her devoted children, Linda (Benny) Poindexter, Brenda (Danny) Mills, Johnny (Sharon) Stanley, Ronnie (Pam) Stanley; her loving grandchildren, Bradley (Ann) Poindexter, Daniel (Kayla) Poindexter, Benjamin Poindexter, Samantha (J.D. Caudle) Poindexter, Cameron (Jade Vestal) Stanley, Hannah (Ty Benton) Stanley, Austin Stanley, Jessica (Michael Mason) Stanley, Megan Vause; her great-grandchildren, Tommy Wayne Collins, Leah Dawn Collins, Anna Marie Collins, Mason Poindexter, Adalyn Poindexter, Emalee Poindexter, Peyton Wilder, Sassy Wilder, Lillian Faye Stanley, Remi Kate Benton, Justin Poindexter; and her sister, Virginia Taylor.
The family will receive friends from 2-3 PM Wednesday at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville. Her funeral service will follow the visitation at 3 PM Wednesday in the Gentry Family Chapel with Rev. Bobby W. Jenkins and Pastor Brian Poindexter both officiating. Interment will follow beside her husband in Copeland Baptist Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, PO Box 325, Dobson, NC 27017. The family would also like to express their gratitude to Mountain Valley Hospice for their valued care and support provided, and especially to Linda, Benny, and Samantha Poindexter for their loving care and devotion to the care of their Mom.
