Lewisville

Mrs. Monica Lorraine McBride Keaton, 78, of Shallowford River Lane, passed away Monday, October 19, 2026, at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born December 15, 1947, in Forsyth County to the late Henry Linville and Wilma Freeman McBride.

Mrs. Keaton was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend who found great happiness in life's simple pleasures and in the special moments shared with those she loved. She retired from Hanes Knitting after several years of dedicated service and had also worked for several years with R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company. She was a member of Union United Methodist Church in Lewisville.

Monica had a wonderful appreciation for the things that brought her joy. She enjoyed the excitement of NASCAR stock car racing and drag racing, and she could often be found watching a favorite Western movie. She had a special talent for crocheting and lovingly made many handmade treasures for her family and friends, each one a reflection of her caring heart. She also enjoyed spending time along the coast fishing and appreciating the beauty of God's creation. At home, she found peace and happiness in caring for her beloved canine companion, Peanut, feeding the deer that visited her yard, and watching the butterflies flutter about. These simple pleasures brought her much contentment and reflected her gentle appreciation for the world around her.

Above all, Monica treasured her family. Her love for her children and granddaughter was a constant source of happiness and pride. She cherished the time spent together, the memories they created, and the special bond they shared. Her family will forever remember her love, the kindness she showed, and the many little things that made her so special to each of them.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Carl Keaton, Sr.; and her sister, Kathy McBride.

Left to cherish her memory are her loving children, Carl Keaton, Jr. and wife, Kim, and Tina Keaton; her cherished granddaughter, Summer Lashley; her sisters, Linda Dinkins of Courtney, Barbara Blakely of Lewisville, and Martha (James) DeHart of Lewisville; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 to 1:00 PM Thursday, October 22, 2026, at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville. Her funeral service will follow the visitation at 1:00 PM in the Gentry Family Chapel with Rev. Jake Penley officiating. Entombment will follow the service in Westlawn Gardens of Memory in Clemmons.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the American Red Cross, 650 Coliseum Dr. NW, Winston-Salem, NC 27106; St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105; or the W.G. (Bill) Hefner VA Medical Center, 1695 Kernersville Medical Parkway, Kernersville, NC 27284.
