Rev. Nelson C. Spaulding

Reverend Nelson C. Spaulding, 78, went to his heavenly home on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at SECU Hospice Care Center. Nelson was born September 28, 1947, in Kokomo, Indiana, to Ralph Earl and Grace Vinnie Kleckner Spaulding. He was a member of Collide Church and was known for faithfully serving God through many community outreaches.

Nelson earned a Bachelor of Arts in Theology and Religion from Marion College (now Indiana Wesleyan University) and a Master of Divinity from Anderson School of Theology at Anderson University. He dedicated more than 50 years of his life to ministry, pastoring churches in both Indiana and North Carolina and serving his community through hospice care, local food pantries, and medical clinics. He was a founding member of both Hospice in Yadkin County and Yadkin Christian Ministries.

Nelson never met a stranger and was widely known for his servant’s heart. He often shared stories of his missionary trips to Chikanta, Zambia, where he faithfully served others. Nelson was a constant source of encouragement, always believing in the good in people no matter how far they had fallen. His life was a testimony to his belief that Jesus is for everyone.

In addition to his parents, Nelson was preceded in death by his loving wife of 54 years, Gwynn Sue Sharp Spaulding, and his son, Jeremy Kent Spaulding.

He is survived by his children, Jennifer (Van) Hemric and Jamie (Lori) Spaulding; grandchildren, Ashton (Taylor) Davis, Colton (Anna) Hemric, Kylie and Kaleb Shinault, and Caleb and Joshua Spaulding; great-grandchildren, Nora and Abram Davis; and brothers, Hugh (Anna Ruth) Spaulding, Frank (Sharlot) Spaulding, and Mark (Pat) Spaulding.

A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, March 13, 2026, at Collide Church, with Pastors Nick Poindexter, Jimmy Lancaster, Jon Bowman, Jamie Reavis, and Brent Winslow officiating. Burial will follow at Harmony Grove Friends Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 8:00 PM on Thursday, March 12, 2026, at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville.

The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of Mountain Valley Hospice and Cadence at Clemmons Senior Living for the loving care given to Nelson during the last few months of his life.
