Nettie Royall Mathis

Boonville – Nettie Ruth Royall Mathis, 76, passed away Tuesday, July 29, 2025. She was born January 1, 1949 in Yadkin County to the late John Royall and Gladys Vickers Royall. Nettie was a loving wife, mama, and nanny. She retired from Hoots Hospital after several years of service and where she made many special friends. She enjoyed working in her vegetable garden and flowers. She enjoyed cooking for her family and friends and when you left her house be prepared to leave with food in a cool whip bowl. Nettie always enjoyed spending time with family, but her pride and joy was her grandson, great grandkids, and the children that she helped babysit throughout the years. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Norris Dale Mathis; sisters, Pattie Owens, Carol Stewart, Faye Reeves; brothers, James Royall, Archie Royall, Calvin Royall. She is survived by her daughters, Brenda Mathis (Jason) Trent, Jenny Mathis Higgins; grandson, Isaac (Arden) Higgins; great grandchildren, Liam Higgins, Cameron Trent, Chloe Higgins; sister, Annie Lou Adkins; brother, Tony Royall; and several nieces and nephews. Her graveside service will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, August 3, 2025 at Mountain View Baptist Church Cemetery by Mr. Weston Parks. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Saturday, August 2, 2025 at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville. The family would like to thank Nettie’s neighbors; Otis and Henrietta Mathis, and Kathy Ruble for all the love and care shown to her. A light from our family is gone, A voice we loved is stilled, A place is vacant in the home Which never can be filled. We have to mourn the loss of one We would’ve loved to keep, But God who surely loved her best Has finally made her sleep. After a lifetime of her love and joy and music to fill our ears, God leaves those wondrous memories, to help us through our tears. Rest in Peace, our beloved mother.
